MARIKO NISHIDE   urushi (Japanese lacquer) artist, urushi restorer/ conservator and poet (a.k.a. Chizu Gouda), born in 1952 in Saitama prefecture Japan.
1972 - 1982, studied the Japanese lacquer art under the guidance of Mr. Masahiro Katsu, a Japanese lacquer artist, regular member and jury of the Japan Art Exhibitions.
Since 1975, exhibited modern Japanese lacquer paintings and received honour awards as the mayor's honour award of Omiya Municipal Saitama-prefecture; the mayor's honour award of Saitama prefecture; an honour award from the Prefectural Board of Education of Saitama; an honour award from the Mainichi Newspaper Company; an honour award from the Chairman of The Saitama Prefectural Assembly. Former member of the Saitama prefectural art society, the Japan Modern Crafts and Arts in Tokyo; and the France-Japon Salon Comparaisons.
In 1983 started a graphic design office in Shibuya, Tokyo.
In October 1988, immigrated to The Netherlands and in 1999 naturalized as Dutch citizen.
In February 2003 established URUSHI-KOBO in Amstelveen The Netherlands.
Member of ICOM (International Council of Museums) and ICOM-CC (International Committee of Conservation).
